Founded in 1946, Northwest College in Wyoming is a community college dedicated to student success, catering to 1,461 students, including a 5% international contingent. The college boasts 110 faculty members, ensuring an optimal instructor-to-student ratio of 1:12. With a commitment to small class sizes that foster educational engagement, 42% of its students benefit from some type of scholarship.

Location
Situated on a 124-acre campus in Powell, Wyoming—known as the gateway to Yellowstone—Northwest College features 58 buildings, including five residence halls and 80 apartments, accommodating over 900 students and their families. Powell is a small, secure community of 6,393 residents engaged primarily in oil, agriculture, livestock, tourism, and related industries.

International Student Entry Requirements
Prospective international students must provide the following for application processing:

  • Official high school transcripts with all courses and grades, translated into English where necessary.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with certified English translation if needed.
  • A valid passport and a completed online application.
  • Proof of financial capability, which includes a bank statement showing a minimum balance of $18,500 within the last six months or an official government scholarship letter if government-sponsored. Applications are accepted all year round without any fees, and students are expected to be at least 18 years old by the time they start their program.

Tuition Fees
For the Spring 2021 semester, international student tuition was set at $297 per credit or a flat rate of $4,455 for 15 to 20 credits.

Scholarships
Northwest College offers numerous scholarships, with Trapper Scholarships available for international students based on their high school GPA and demonstrated academic excellence. Nearly two-thirds of students receive financial aid or scholarships.
