BICC Ensures Your English Proficiency for Post-Secondary Education

BICC's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programs will make sure your English ability is ready for higher academics.

Birmingham International Collegiate of Canada (BICC) is a regarded private school in Toronto, Canada with a notable history of providing top-notch student-focused education. With an aim to prepare its students for university, BICC is especially well suited in teaching and improving English language skills for international students.

BICC offers three levels of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) for students. Each level integrates academic vocabulary and constructive study skills into its curriculum and provides lessons on listening and speaking, reading and writing, and grammar.


  • EAP 100 – IntermediateFor students already at an intermediate level of English proficiency, equivalent to a 4.0 – 5.0 on IELTS evaluations.
  • Students in this program will improve their English speaking and comprehension skills by:Listening to audio and video clips in excess of five minutes
  • Completing speaking assignments that last a few minutes
  • Reading and comprehending texts of several-hundred words
  • Writing assignments of 200 – 400 words

  • EAP 200 – High IntermediateFor students already at a high intermediate level of English proficiency, equivalent to a 5.0 – 6.5 on IELTS evaluations.
  • Students in this program will improve their English speaking and comprehension skills by:Listening to audio and video clips in excess of eight minutes
  • Completing speaking assignments that last up to 10 minutes
  • Reading and comprehending texts of up to 1,500 words
  • Writing assignments up to 1,000 words
  • To be eligible for this program, students must have successfully completed the EAP 100 – intermediate program or demonstrated their English proficiency on placement exams.
  • Students who complete this program are deemed ready for entry into some Canadian college and university programs.

  • EAP 300 – AdvancedFor students already at an advanced level of English proficiency, equivalent to a 6.5 – 7.0 on IELTS evaluations.
  • Students in this program will improve their English speaking and comprehension skills by:Listening to audio and video clips in excess of up to 10 minutes
  • Completing speaking assignments that last up to 15 minutes
  • Reading and comprehending texts of up to 2,000 words
  • Writing assignments up to 1,500 words
  • To be eligible for this program, students must have successfully completed the EAP 200 – High Intermediate program or demonstrated their English proficiency on placement exams.
  • Students who complete this program will be ready for entry into linguistically demanding Canadian college and university programs.

Regardless of the level chosen for the EAP program, students benefit from small classroom size, thus guaranteeing proper and considerate attention is received from their teachers and fellow classmates. BICC too provides top-notch student counselling to help with not just academic issues but also cultural counselling and adjusting to Canadian life and culture. Courses for each program are a total of 300 hours – lasting 12 weeks, 25 hours per-week, five hours per-day.
