Down to Business with Business Administration – TRU Popular Programs

Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Business Administration programs

Are you fascinated with supply chains? Are you able to track yours’ or other’s financials? Do you have a great business idea and want to learn how to start it? Whether you are considering an undergraduate degree, a master’s degree, a post-baccalaureate diploma, or a certificate, Thompson Rivers University’s (TRU’s) School of Business and Economics has you covered with its many program offerings for Business Administration.

TRU’s three Business Administration master’s degrees can be taken as a full or part-time student on-campus or online (or a combination of both). The program is typically two-years, though it can be completed over one-year at an accelerated pace.

The curriculum is both course-based and requires completion of a graduate project or thesis. There is flexibility of courses to take with an MBA, along with some online-only courses.

The curriculum is only course-based and, relative to the MBA program, there are relatively fewer online-courses offered as this program is preferred to be completed on-campus. Graduates gain knowledge in sustainability and how it applies to business and management practices. Possible careers include roles as management, planners, or consultants with governments, environmental surveyors, and product distributors.

The curriculum is traditionally thesis-based, though you can alternatively complete a project. Similar to the MEEM program, graduates of the MScEEM program gain knowledge in sustainability along with important academic and applied research experience. It is not uncommon for graduates of this program to further pursue a PhD.

Bachelor’s degrees offered by TRU’s School of Business and Economics can be done as a full or part-time student, and most (but not all) courses can be done online.

The first two years of the four-year program emphasize humanities and social sciences, whereas the final two-years will see you declare your specializations among 13-majors or minors (Accounting, Finance, Marketing, etc.) and complete the necessary courses. In your final years, you can also apply for studying abroad, explore Cooperative Education, partake in service learning, or pursue an Honours Degree.

If you are completing your undergraduate degree in another particular faculty at TRU, you have several options to integrate Economics as part of your major or minor.

If you are working towards a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS), or Bachelor of Science (BS), you have the option to complete your minor in Management. Along with expanding your professional knowledge, this can open options for pursuing additional diplomas after graduating.

There is also an option to complete a dual degree as either a BCS and BBA, or BA and BBA.

Post-baccalaureate diplomas are available if you have already completed a non-business undergraduate degree. However, if you completed a business-related undergraduate degree, you can explore post-baccalaureate diplomas to change your area of expertise. Each of the 10 programs have slightly different admission requirements, and different courses to complete.

Most Business Administration certificates and diplomas offered by TRU can flexibly ladder into a diploma program and beyond. Depending on the program, you can complete your certificate or diploma as early as one year.

Depending on your status as a Canadian or international student, and before factoring living costs, you can expect to pay the following:
