North Island College (NIC) educates upwards of 8,000 students per year. In 2020, approximately 4.5% of NIC’s student population originated from outside of Canada. NIC is a great choice for international students due to its small class sizes, picturesque campuses, and less costly tuition when compared to other Canadian educational institutions. NIC graduates can easily enter the Canadian workforce with what they have learned, or continue to study at top Canadian universities after the first two years of study with NIC.
- International students interested in pursuing their education with NIC must meet submit proof of English language proficiency in one of the following forms:Academic IELTS score of 6.0 (no lower than 5.5).
- TOEFL ibt 80 overall, with no subsection less than 19.
- TOEFL 550 (Code 8538).
- CAEL 60, and writing 60.
- PTE Academic 54 overall, with no component less than 46.
- Duolingo English Test 105 taken after January 2020.
- Should none of the aforementioned requirements be met by an international student applying to NIC, other equivalent proofs of English proficiency can be determined on a case-by-case basis or applicants can attend an alternative Language Pathway school that partners with NIC. With the Language Pathway structure, prospective students apply both to NIC and their chosen pathway partner. Upon successfully completing the courses from the pathway partner, the student can smoothly transition into their choice of eligible NIC academic programs. - NIC offers numerous programs specifically for international students. Undergraduate degrees, diplomas, certificate programs, and post-graduate diplomas are available for eligible students. Programs can range from six months to four years, curriculum is centered around the following academic disciplines:Arts, Science and TechnologyMost of these programs are one or two years in length as they are designed to have students complete their undergraduate studies at their chosen Canadian university.
